It's Official!

It's official! I'm a chipoholic! My son brought home a small bag of baked chips he's been wanting me to try. I ate them. They were okay but not what I'm used to eating. So....finished the bag and went to the pantry and filled it with my regular wavy, fried, salty chips with twice the calories and fat. Ate those. Made me want more. Went back to the pantry. Filled it again. Ate them. Do I have to wonder why my butt is the size of a barn? My name is Diana and I am a chipoholic.

I Don't Like Turkey!

I guess it's time to admit it. I just don't like turkey. Every year during Thanksgiving dinner I get lots of compliments on how good my turkey tastes. But I'm wondering if it's really good because it doesn't taste that great to me. So, after all these years of just going along with the crowd and touting the moistness of the white meat, I've decided that no matter how much I try, I just don't like turkey and this year ends the pretending!

My husband thinks I'm un-American, but he looks forward to the once-a-year bird and is afraid he might have to do without if I say I don't like it! But I suspect there are many others who need to come out of the kitchen and just admit the truth: they don't like turkey!

I think next year we'll have a Thanksgiving ham....and maybe some turkey lunch meat for tradition's sake.

People Are Out of Touch with Reality!

I have proof! Chase bank sent me an offer a few months ago. If I opened a savings account with them, I would receive a check for $100. The minimum opening deposit for the savings account would be $10,000.  Yes, I said $10,000.

Seriously?  Does anyone have that kind of money stuffed under their mattress? And if anyone did, would they need a check for $100?

Chase is the one who needs a check. A REALITY check!

The Last Rose of Summer

A Day at the Park

Watching the ships travel down the Houston ship channel, Blake (l) and Julian (r) share a Sponge Bob Square Pants popsicle (and cooties)! That's Hops sitting with them. It was an absolutely beautiful, fun-filled day at the Battleship Texas park!

It's GeeGee Day!

Tomorrow is GeeGee day! This is the day of the week my great-grandson Julian and I get to spend a little time together.

Sometimes we go to the park, or the sprayground, look for acorns, make anacondas and pizzas out of play dough or maybe just watch a scary movie, like Jaws or anything from Shark Week. Sometimes we play ninjas and go after a bad guy named Rufus. Whatever a 4 1/2 year old boy wants to do!

Tomorrow we will be planting acorns that he and his Grammy have collected from under the oak trees by his pre-school.

Since the concept of time is not quite there yet, I know he will expect a tree in about a week! So, in addition to planting the oak tree crop, we will be acorn crafting. Not quite sure about the actual project yet, but it will be fun! We'll be building memories!

I'm nuts for not making soup in the summer time

It's true, I won't make soup until the temperature drops at least below 70 degrees. That could be next January the way things are going here.
I really like soup but I just can't eat it when the temp outside is even hotter than the broth I'm dipping my crackers in!
So when we go to the deli with our friends this weekend, I will again have to skip the soup menu and once again have to peruse the salad bar and just have a little taste from each container, and again I'll have to eat some of those mini cornbread muffins and again some of those mini gingerbread muffins and maybe some of that really crunchy garlic bread. Just half of a 6" high pastrami sandwich though.
If it would just hurry and get cool I wouldn't have to eat all this! Honestly, all I really want is a bowl of soup! And maybe just a couple of pieces of that crunchy garlic bread........
